Fatherhood

One of my favorite things these days is watching Curtis interact with Calla. He absolutely adores her and wishes he could be a stay-at-home dad. He is the youngest of 5 children so he didn't have much baby experience before Calla. It has been a blast watching him learn the ropes. He is such a great dad!
  • He constantly sings made up songs to her and then dances around the house. Then, he wonders why she spits up all over him!
  • In mornings if she is not awake he'll stand over her crib and hope that she'll peep open one of her eyes so that he can pick her up and play with her before he leaves for work.
  • He doesn't like watching me give her vitamin drops because she doesn't like them so he thinks I shouldn't give them to her! She has already won him over and has him wrapped around her finger!
  • He loves giving her a bath and can finally hold her without having his shoulders up around his ears and looking really awkward.
  • He is having major withdrawals about having to drop her off at the babysitters when I start back to work.
  • My favorite part of watching Curtis learn to be a dad has to be the text messages and phone calls I have received when I'm gone and he's in charge. Here are some the classics:
Curtis: "She's puking all over the place."
Paige: "Is she really puking or just spitting up."
Curtis: "Okay maybe just spitting up...a lot."
Paige: "Well how much did you feed her?"
    Curtis: "8 or 9 ounces."
Paige: "She usually only eats 4-5!"
Curtis: "But she was hungry so I just kept feeding her!"

Curtis: "She's sleeping and sounds really raspy. What do I do?"
Paige: "Is she turning blue? Is she breathing? Are you sure she's not just breathing deeply?"
Curtis: "Yeah she's probably just breathing deeply but maybe you should come home."

I LOVE those text messages. That is hilarious! I think it is cute that he wants her to wake up before he heads off to work. Sweet!

When is your sister moving to Alpine- that is SUPER close!

She is moving in mid-Nov. We are coming to Park City for Christmas! Are you going to be home?

Absolutely adorable! Good thing you are making records of all this lovin' going on now so you will have something to refer Curtis to when Calla starts on her emotional journey of being a girl. Wish I would have done more of that before Eden turned...2!
